Website Evaluations

The purpose of this blog is an evaluation of a website to help educators with improving schools for the 21st century learner. This site is designed for Instructional Leaders in public schools to improve technology applications. Based on the weaknesses discovered from an annual survey, this site posts and welcomes comments based on evaluation of helpful websites to improve schools in these areas. The following website is intended to use as a tool for educators seeking ways to improve their schools and classrooms with teaching and learning.

http://www.teacherworkingconditions.org/resources/Recommendation%202.html

This site was discovered by using a search engine seeking assistance with the area of teaching and learning. The above site, created by the Center for Teaching Quality, is easy to navigate and has working links. The title of the website is "Teacher Working Condition Toolkit" It states that "teacher working conditions are students' learning conditions." There are colorful and user friendly links for different pages to view for each area of need. The options are as follows:
  • data analysis
  • time
  • leadership
  • empowerment
  • professional development
  • facilities resources

Each option has multiple links and models business concepts while still including school content. This type of website is needed to help the 21st century learner grow. For example under the link for "empowerment," there is an option for recommendations for principals, teachers, district office, community, and policymakers. Although it covers the area of teaching and learning, it is not limited to this area solely. This site is informative, but is not interactive. A better title might include the states included in data analysis and reporting of specific domains: North Carolina, South Carolina, Arizona, and Kansas.

If you know of other sites that might be beneficial, please post a comment or new post with the link of the site(s).
